On Wednesday, Sept. 2, two builder members of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (HBA) were named the 2009 Georgia Builders of the Year from the Home Builders Association of Georgia. The awards were presented to brothers Kenny and Mark King during a cocktail reception that was part of HBAG’s 2009 Fall Board Meeting.
This year marks the first time two brothers have shared the Georgia Builder of the Year award, the recipient of which is personally chosen each year by HBAG senior officers for his/her contributions to the homebuilding industry.
Kenny King has been a member of the Greater Atlanta HBA and HBAG since 1984, and he has represented Georgia on the National Association of Home Builders Board of Directors since 1992. Kenny is also a founding member of the Certified Professional Home Builder of Georgia program and has served on the Georgia Codes Advisory Committee and HBAG’s Regulatory Affairs Committee.
Mark King has been a member of the Greater Atlanta HBA and HBAG since 1983, and he has represented Georgia on the National Association of Home Builders Board of Directors since 1997. He has also served on HBAG’s Government Affairs Committee for the last six years.
“The dual award was given because the Kings are both great, solid builder members that the association can always count on,” explains HBAG Executive Vice President Kelly Lass. “They always help when asked. They are more than deserving of this honor.”
